ARE YOU AN ARTIST OR DESIGNER?

SPUN Sustainable Collective is always seeking new indie designers, keeping our store's offerings fresh and making our customers happy. One of the biggest challenges about being a designer is breaking into the business. It's not only expensive and risky but also very difficult. SPUN Sustainable Collective helps support designers by providing them with shelf/rack space in a well-located store. We also help gain you exposure through marketing and business assistance, leaving you to focus on growing your brand. By joining SPUN Sustainable Collective, you are given your own shelf/rack space, personal bio about you and your label and are included in all of the collective's marketing outreach.

SPUN Sustainable Collective features designers who are creative, innovative and make quality products. If you are serious about your work and would like to join us at the collective, please contact SPUN designer, Sara Seumae to make an appointment: SPUNcollective@choosespun.com

The incredible team at Seattle Magazine have asked me to be a part of the "5th Annual Seamless in Seattle" design contest. This will be my second time joining a panel of extraordinary fashion insiders as we go through all the contestants and pick the winners.

The contest is open now until June 1st so be sure to apply if you want to take part. I believe it to be a great way to gain exposure for your line since your name/info will be up on the Seattle Magazine website and the winner(s) will also be featured in a full editorial spread in the September issue of Seattle Magazine!

Here's more info on how you can take part! Good luck!

Meet the Collective: Metamorphic Gear

I hear it from customers all the time... "why can't stuff be eco and cute at the same time? why is it one or the other?". As a designer of my own eco fashion line, SPUN, I try to make garments that offer the best of both worlds. I firmly believe that you don't need to make a choice when deciding to bring more green into your life.

This is why I was so excited to meet Lindsay Lawrence, the man behind the new Seattle brand, Metamorphic Gear. Lindsay's vision is to morph the two worlds of style and eco into his products.

"Lindsay is a world traveler, sailor and lover of the outdoors. Inspired by the outdoor equipment that he used while hiking, Lindsay wanted to design a range of stylish but reliable eco-friendly products for the outdoor enthusiast to use in their urban lifestyle. Having been involved with sailing both professionally and recreationally, Lindsay witnessed the durability of sail material before it was sent to landfill so decided to give it a new lease of life as the major ingredient in Metamorphic Gear’s products. Lindsay’s drive to create a company that is earth minded and forward thinking while always maintaining its integrity has attracted a team of likeminded folks. We are driven to innovate, create and deliver stylish, upcycled products you will be happy to bring into your urban life."

We proudly carry Metamorphic Gear's "Slate" Messenger Bags in both the solid colors (green, blue and red $130) as well the Limited Edition colors $150. Each bag is made using upcycled sails and used truck tarp materials.

Don't you love all the pockets?!?

You gotta see these bags in person so come on in to SPUN Sustainable Collective and take a look for yourself. Congratulations Lindsay on doing a remarkable job with these bags. We can't wait to see all the new styles you have cooking up!

Back in Stock!

Super excited to announce that the extremely funny and creative greeting cards from Seattle's own "the raven & the writing desk" are back in stock!

If you have ever shopped at the collective, then you are already familiar with these hilarious cards. If not, then here's a little taste...

This Just In! - Saturday 3/3

It's a been a very busy week full of fashion. We wrapped up the "Pink Carpet Project" event on Thursday and took a couple of days to recover. Stay tuned for some great pictures from the event coming up very soon.

Kate Chrisman has been a busy bee too! She just brought in this beautiful coat and I'm really excited to show you what it looks like. It's black wool with leather detail and a gorgeous interior lining. The zipper and buttons are brass and the whole look is to die for. These pictures don't do it justice so come by and take a closer look.

Kate Chrisman Military Coat $395

Check out that leather detail in the back! #swoon

Our customers adore the handmade shawls and scarves that Jennifer Glidewell of "Larson Love" makes. Each piece is truly made with love and includes a story of how it was made, where she bought the wool and even the name of the llama or sheep it's made from! This is one of my favorite scarves in the collective. Her use of the deep aqua color along with the rich brown is a lovely combination. It's hardly a scarf as it measures over 8 feet long! Made using 100% Organic Romney Wool raised on Orcas Island, Washington.

Our good friend Cameron Levin has put a few of her garments on sale as to make room for more pieces from her much anticipated "Sati" collection. This Silk maxi skirt is available in grey and pink. The lining is a buttery soft fabric combination of bamboo and organic cotton. We only have one left in the pink and two in grey, so hurry in if you want to be wearing one this spring.

This Just In! - Friday 2/24

I know how it is when you are curious if there's something new at your favorite store, but you don't have time to stop by. So to feed that hunger, we are doing a weekly post featuring the products that are new at the collective! We'll save you a trip and you can even call us to purchase by phone! Standard shipping in the US is just $5 if you want us to mail it to you. How painless is that?!?

One of my favorite skincare lines, OHA Bioactive, has recently joined the collective! Not only do I adore OHA owner Martha and her cute assistant Meg, but I absolutely love what OHA is doing to my skin! I'll save the story for when I can attribute a whole post just to OHA, but for now, I will just outline a few of my favorite products that we are proudly offering here at the collective. *yay*

OHA Gift & Travel Set $36
Everything you need to get started

OHA Intensive Nutrient Complex $40
OHA Vitamin C Infused Hand Cream $29

If you've stopped by in the last week or so, then you have probably already fallen in love with all the cute clutches, belts and jewelry that are made in Colombia by Belice, the talented designer of "by BAC". Belice has amazing taste and her designs go great with everything else here at the shop.

Leather & Filigree Cuff $70

Spiral Necklace & Earrings $130/set

Serpent Copper Ring $70
Miir Water Bottle $23
